FORELEG FRACTURED. WORKOUTS AT TAKANINI. At Takanini tliis morning all the fast work was carried out on the middle grass, which was inclined to cut out slightly. Proceedings were marred by an accident to Queen Nona. She was given strong work over a round, and 50yds from the finishing post she faltered and was pulled up, her off foreleg having been fractured at the fetlock joint. An effort will be made to save her for stud purposes. Flood Tide, with Mai de Mer to assist him over the last four furlongs, ran a mile in 1.44 3-5. It was a good effort on the part of the Mitchelson Cup candidate, and lie finished really well. The three-year-olds, Anion and Inver, were not bustled to complete five furlongs in I.G. Palustre worked over a round, covering the last three furlongs easily in 435. Nun Nicer and Valamito got to the end of five furlongs in 1.5 4-5. Lapis Lazuli, who had the better of the weights, impressed more than Ebb and I 1 low, while running half a mile in 54 3-ss. Lady Ruler was too good for Maori Song at the conclusion of five furlongs, which took 1.7. Maori Song drifted a bit in the straight, and did not work as well as usual. The jumpers, Emancipation and Dark Marble, were allotted a mile and a quarter, increasing the pace to run the last six furlongs in 1.20. Dark Marble was two lengths in front at the finish. Tliurwind, Silver Glow, High Sea and an Acre gelding were . given useful tasks. Lady Valma was going exceptionally well while traversing five furlongs in 1.5 4-5. Royal Passage beat Surella over the same distance in 1.6 3-5. Surella did not work with his usual dash. Spearcourt had Wait and See as a- companion over six furlongs, which took 1.25. Benighted did strong pace work over a round, and Latliarna and Yerrapie were going easily to cover six furlongs In 1.27. Kaiwaka, Warwick Lad and Drolatique were in that order at the conclusion of five furlongs, which occupied 1.9 2-5. Rothoon, with Precise to bring him home over the final three furlongs, covered half a mile in 545. He beat his companion by a couple of lengths. El Mendel reeled off three furlongs in 40s. doing it nicely. Bachelor King, assisted by The Hiker, ran half a mile" in 555, the latter continuing on for a further round. Choice was three lengths in front of High Quality at the end of four furlongs, run in 545. High Quality also completed a further round. In a school, and traversing a mile and three-quarters, Merry Lap (Baker) was 50yds in front of Lord Willonyx (Fergus), with Survanna (Mcllro.v) further back, jumping in all four hurdles. llie trio fenced satisfactorily, but Merry Lap had too much speed on the flat.
