NATIVE PROBLEMS.
TO-MORROW'S CONFERENCE. DELEGATES ASSEMBLING. (From Our Own Correspondent.) ROTORUA, Tuesday. The interest aroused by the recent conference of Maori leaders convened by the Government in Wellington is reflected in the support accorded the organisers of the confereince to be opened at Ohinemutu on Thursday. This gathering is to establish a national council to deal with nativep roblems as a co-ordinating body between the various Maori organisations and the Government. Practically every Tiative organisation in the Dominion will, it is understood, be represented at th meting, and the number of delegates ""is expected to approach 100. Special invitations have been extended to prominent Europeans known to be keenly interested in the progress of the Maoris. Following the addresses of welcome by the elders of the Arawa tribe and the opening address by the Mayor of Rotorua, • Mr. T. Jackson, it is proposed that delegates should be given the opportunity of making a personal inspection of the Horohoro native development scheme. The serious business of the conference will commence on Thursday afternoon, and there will probably be an evening session. It is expected that the gathering will conclude on Friday afternoon, leaving the evening free for native entertainments and enabling the delegates to return to their homs by the week-end-
