RECORD CERTAIN.

HARBOUR BOARD YEAR GRATIFYING RESULTS. COMMENTS BY CHAIRMAN. 0 Complete satisfaction with the revenue of the Auckland Harbour Board for the 11-month period just ended was expressed by the chairman, Mr. C. G. Macindoe, at a meeting of the board yesterday afternoon.

"The figures are most satisfactory," said Mr. Macindoe, "The board is going to enjoy a record year and we as a board have reason to be gratified and proud of the result. I am pleased and grateful for the great support board members have given me during my term of office." Striking figures were presented by the treasurer, j\lr. C. F. Garratt, in a report to the board. "We are within one month of the close of the financial year lie said, "and the movement of receipts is still upward. It needs so to be, having regard to the increased expenditure on essential operations to which the board is voluntarily and compulsorily committed." The increases for the comparative periods are shown by the following figures for the month and 11 months to August-31: — Month. 11 Months. This year £29,572 £377,417 Xj<ist ywir .•••••••••• 2y,6t>o ooT,li>«J Increases £3,922 £40,2j8 The sources of revenue contributing to the increases were: Rents, £1128; goods wharfage, £18,083; pilotage, port charges and shipping wharfage, £0408; cranes, etc., £7278; storage, £2179; miscellaneous, £3974- : —all of these being Waiteniata Harbour items. In the Manukau Harbour account there was a decrease of £12 for the month, but its share of the increase for the 11 months was £518 (goods wharfage, £352; royalties, £115; storage, £30; and miscellaneous, £15). The estimates for the 11 months have been exceeded by £34,184, the sustaining of the increases month by month being one of the considerations leading to the decision to effect complete redemption out of general account of the loan of £94,900 (plus exchange), maturing in London on November 10 next.

The casli balances at August 31 in Auckland and London amounted to £109.779, which ensures facility in effecting the redemption referred to above.
