RED CROSS SOCIETY.

MOUNT ROSKILL BRANCH,

The Zealandia Hall, Dominion Road, was beautifully decorated on Monday Evening, when the Mount Roskill Centre •of the New Zealand Red Cross Society gave a successful old-time dance. The official hostesses were: Mrs. Wilson, who wore a gown of lilac lace, and spray of orchids, and Mrs. J. Derig, in a frock of smoke-grey satin and blushrose satin coatee. On the arrival of Dr. Allan Knight and Dr. Margaret Knight, the latter and Mrs. Wilson were presented with beautiful bouquets of spring flowers by Mrs. Derig, the social and nursing secretary. The Mayor of Mount Eden, Mr. T. McNab, who has been selected chairman for the Red Cross in Auckland, gave a short address on the work of the society, and called on the honorary branch secretary, Mr. J. Molloy, to present some gifts to some well known older members of the Mount Roskill Centre. The pleasurable entertainment was due to the energetic committee, comprising Mrs. Derig, Mrs. Matthews, Mrs. Wilson, Miss Barbara Middlemass, Ruth Hooker, Jean Weaver, Messrs. Wallace Atkin and W. Matthews. Miss Parker's orchestra gave the latest dance airs, and a tap dance was given by Betty Nicholson and Mavis Parkes. Amonor' those present were Dr. Margaret Knight, in a frock of Parma mauve flat crepe, and white fur coat; Mrs. Walter Caslimore, hyacinth blue Chantilly lace; Mrs. Burton, violet spider-web; Mrs. Cassey, pastel pink georgette and lace; Mrs. Matthews, sky blue satin; Mrs. Gregory, navy sou pic satin; Mrs. Dray, black satin and silver lame; Mrs. J. Molloy, black Mechlin lace; Miss Margaret Molloy, pale pink georgette; Miss Jean Weaver, cherry marocain; Miss Ruth Hooker, pastel rose taffeta; Miss Mary Molloy, apricot crepe suede; Miss Barbara- Middlemass (Warkworth), pale pink brocade.
