BAND UNIFORMS.
PAPATOETOE RAISES FUNDS,
The Papatoetoe Public Hall was well filled last evening, when a concert was given by the Papatoetoe Town Band, assisted by the Dramatic Society, in aid of the band's new uniform fund.
The chairman of the Papatoetoe Town Board, Mr. W. J. Nicholson, who is patron to the band, in a few remarks thanked the Dramatic Club and artists for combining with the band to make the evening the success it was, and he said that it was pleasing to see such a large audience and that the fund should benefit considerably from the proceeds Items by the band, which was conducted by Mr. R. de Clifton, included the hvnin. "Abide With Me." "Salute the | Brave" (Ward). "More Musical Memories" (Trenchard). "True Blue" (Manning), "Friendship" (Rippin) and a brass quintet selection bj' Messrs. N. White, E. Leaning, T. Morris, L. Crawford and F. I Morris.
Two ' playlets entitled "Wurzei-Flum-mery" (A. A. Milne) and "Russian Salad'" (Phillip Johnson) were presented by the Dramatic Srciety. The characters were taken by Misses L. Roseveare, G. and I. Holmes," G. and N. Leonard. Messrs. E. H. Burton. M. French, N. Hicks and C. Mason. Other items included a humorous vocal quartet., songs by Mr. H. S. Renolds, novelty turn 6 by Mr. Rose >ind a concertina and accordion duet by the Messrs. Green. The programme was ably managed by Mr. C. J. Mahon, assisted by the band secretary, Mr. G. Mahon, while piano accompaniments were played by Mrs. J. Sanderson.
