LOYALTY URGED.
ARBITRATION COURT.
APPEAL MADE TO WORKERS.
«ABIDE BY DECISIONS."
'"'I hope that while the Labour Government is in power all talk of strikes and protest meetings will become a thing of the past," said the Rev. Clyde Carr, M.P. for Timaru, president of the New Zealand Labour party, in an appeal to workers to abide by the decisions of the Arbitration Court, during an address at the opening of the Manukau by-election last night.
Mr. Carr appealed to the workers of Manukau, of Auckland, and of New Zealand, not to embarasa the Government which was doing its very utmost, not only in their interests, but in the interests and welfare of the country. The Government's policy was compulsory conciliation and optional arbitration. The present Government had restored the Industrial Conciliation and •Arbitration Act.
Some -workers, Mr. Carr proceeded, were not satisfied because they were not getting everything all at once, but the machinery of the Court was available to them. If they were not satisfied with the Court, well, they knew what to do. The workers must be just as ready as the employers to accept the decisions of the tribunal, held a mandate to carry out the policy of the Government, to weigh all the evidence and give a considered opinion. Thev must abide legally by those decisions.
