£80,000 TO BE SPENT.

great b.b.c. plan. (Spec'.al.—By Air Mail.) LONDON, August 8. An estimate that £60,000 will be spent on special programmes during an eight weeks' Coronation season of broadcastnext summer is being allowed for in the 8.8.C.'s budget. This sum is allowed to cover the expense of engaging the leading stars of the entertainment world "for. big musical plays, ordinaryplays an dgala variety programmes; for performing rights and copyright fees for some of Britain's finest "musical and literary works; and for the renting of land lines for the numerous outside broadcasts. On Coronation - Day selected cities and villages in various parts of England will contribute to a special programme in which relays from every part of the Empire will also be heard. It will be either immediately after this programme or on one of the succeeding days that the Kin<?i will broadcast.
