The New Zealand women's hockey tournament opened this morning' in the heavj~ est rain of the season. When play was commenced the grounds were heavy. Results: — ; ; SECTION B. " South Otago 3, beat Wairarapa 1. SECTION C. .
Wellington 3, beat Akitio 2. Otago were superior throughout, revealing better combination than their opponents. Akitio were leading by 2 to 0 at half-time, but thereafter were strongly; challenged by Wellington, whose aggressiveness saved the match.
