' The admission of New Zealand ap'ple a.nd pears into Trinidad had,previous! been prohibited on the grounds that tli fruit might be infected with the Meditei ranean fruit fly. Strong representation for tlie removal of the restriction hai been made by the Industries and Com mert-e Department oil the grounds tha the Mediterranean fruit fly had neve been in existence in New Zealand. Ad vice had now been received that it ha been decided to admit apples and pear grown in New Zealand. It was hope: tlio removal of tlie restriction wouli enable a worth-while market to b opened up in Trinidad.
