AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, Friday. The North Auckland amateur championship golf tournament was continued on the Mount Denby links in perfect weather. The Urst two rounds of the championship, which were played to-day, provide anv surprises, t/he ho?der of the w. J. Glanvflle, of iWhangarei,
comfortable victories, and this also applied to D. J. Thomson, the Whangarei Club champion( and A. L. McLean, of Akarana. The best, round to-day was by L. F. Potter, of Wellsford, a nine handicap player, who also reached the semi-finals. He returned a card of 77 this afternoon, taking 30 out and 38 in, which is exceptionally good on a 73-par course.
