CHILE INSPECTS U.S.A.

TOO STRONG FOR FAIR PARLEY PAN-AMERICAN PEACE. SANTIAGO, CHILE. The newspaper "El Imparcial" expresses doubts as to the success of the forthcoming peace conference in Buenos Aires. It asserts the economic power of the United States over South America is so overwhelming that it will reduce the Latin-American members to the conference to the condition of weak and powerless onlookers.

The sincerity of the peace ideals expressed by President Roosevelt when he proposed the conference are not questioned by the editorial, but it asserts the material interests are so great that they probably carry more weight than the spiritual issues among the numerous problems to be considered.
