MILK BILL.
PROPOSED LEGISLATION.
QUESTION OF COMPENSATION,
The view that the Auckland Metropolitan Milk Amendment Bill, which is to be considered by Parliament, should contain provision for the payment of compensation was expressed by several members of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce at its meeting yesterday.
The discussion followed the reading of a letter from the Auckland Fresh Milk Producers and Vendors' Association pointing out that the Milk Council proposed to. force the producers to pool their milk so that there would be a considerable amount of surplus milk and also the cancellation of the vendors' licenses of all whose rounds were under 40 gallons a day.
' After discussion it was decided on the suggestion of Mr. W. R. Fee that the chamber should write to the Milk Council and ask whether provision was to be made for the payment of compensation to people forced out of business.
