AMONG THEIR PEOPLE.

KING AND QUEEN SURPRISE,

British Officiui Wireless. (Received 1.30 p.m.)

RUGBY, August 6,

Sightseers in the grounds of Sandringham had a surprise yesterday. Unknown to them, the King had flown to Sandringham to pay a visit to his mother prior to leaving on his holiday, and during the afternoon both of them walked round the gardens together, receiving hearty greetings from holiday-makers, to several of whom they spoke.

It is not usual for members of the Royal Family to use Sandringham Gardens on the days the public are admitted.
