HOLIDAY IN SYDNEY. MELBOURNE MARKET QUIET. SYDNEY, August 3. The Sydney Stock Exchange was closer to-day for the observance of the bant holiday. On the Melbourne Exchange the markel was generally quiet. Industrials were steady and mining stock was a shade easier. Sales included:—Commercial Bank of Australia, 18/8; National Bank of Australasia (£10), £14 3/; (£5), £7; Howard Smith, 19/; Kauri Timber, £1 4/6; Yarra Falls, £2; Australian Steel (pref.), £1 6/6; Australian Glass, £4 12/; Broken Hill Proprietary, £3 13,/fi. £3 13/, '£3 13/3; Dun lop, Perdriau, 18/8, 18/7; (pref.), £1 14/6; Electrolytic Zinc, £2 1/0; (pref.), £2 3/6; G. J. Coles, £3 18/9, £3 19/; Emperor, 14/6, 14/2; Loloma, £1 2/6; Mount Lyell, £1 7/3.
