TO-DAY IN CHRISTCHURCH. LITTLE LIFE IN MARKET. I ' BANKS VERY DULL. i (By Telegraph.—-Special to "Star.") CHRISTCHURCH, this day. With the approach of National Week the Christchurch Exchange is transacting less business and the quotation list shows little life. Values, in spite of reported sales of some issues at higher rates, fail to hold recent levels. Several hitherto high prices look uncertain. s Banks are very dull, with a further tendency to ease. Sellers of Nationals of New Zealand offered at £3 4/6. buyers £3 2/, compared with sales yesterday at £3 3/. New Zealands had a market between £2 and £2 0/6. Christchurch Gas had stronger buyers at £1 10/, sellers firm at £1 10/7. Breweries were again uncertain, final quotations standing between £2 12/6 and £2 13/4. In the miscellaneous section Beaths had reported dealings at a rise of 3d, and the market finished firm between buyers £1 4/6 and sellers £1 4/9. A buyer for Cements put in a higher bid at £1 18/, sellers still 2/ away. New Zealand Newspapers were asked for at £2, sellers £2 0/8. Australian miscellaneous issues weakened. Broken Hills were on offer at £3 12/9 after reported sales at £3 13/1. Zinc preferences dropped 4d, with further sellers at the sale price of £2 2/9. Coles were on offer at £3.18/, compared with reported business at £3 18/9. Mining was quiet and uninteresting. Lyells were firm. Morgans were uncertain, with quotations from buyers at 14/2 and sellers 14/4.
