Mr. C. J. Lovegrove. of Auckland, leaves by the Aorangi to night for an extended tour to the East.
Mr. C. 0. Hughes, shipping master for Russell and Soniers, Limited, will leave for Sydney by the Aorangi to-night.
Mr. J. A. Lee. Parliamentary UnderSecretary to the Prime Minister, left for Wellington by the Limited express last night.
Mr. C. de R. Andrews, oflicer in charge of the Dunedin ollice oi tiiu \ Quarto.l Department, is retiring on superannuation after 43 years of service.
Major J. Abel, chairman of the Dominion executive of the Xew Zealand Red Cross Society, is visiting Auckland, and is at the Station Hotel. He will leave for the South to-morrow.
Mr. W. L. Hubbard, representing the Hoffman Manufacturing Company, Ltd., of Chelmsford, England, arrived from Sydney to-day by the Marama in the course* of a business tour of Australia and New Zealand.
Mr. S. T. Williamson, honorary New Zealand Government Agent in Hongkong, and Mrs. Williamson left Hongkong for a trip to Australia and Xew Zealand by the Taiping oil July 14. They will arrive in Wellington shortly.
Sir Herbert Gepp, a prominent Australian business man, and an adviser to the Commonwealth •Government, who has been on a short visit to the Dominion, will leave for Sydney by tue Aorangi to-night. He will be accompanied by Lady Gepp. The Rev. A. Everil Orr, of the Method, ist Central Mission, will leave for Australia by the Mariposa on Friday on two months' leave of absence. He will study city mission work in Sydney and Melbourne, and in the smaller centres surrounding those cities.
The Rev. G. K. Moir, M.A., vicar of Brooklyn, who has completed 28 years of service in Melanesia and New Zealand, is resigning his present cure to take up work in Scotland. His successor at Brooklyn will be the Rev. W. Tye, 8.A., vicar of Wanganui parochial district for the past 12 years.
The Hon. A. Burns, the Hon. J. Alexander, the Hon. F. E. Lark, the Hon. B. Martin, the Hon. T. Bloodworth, the Hon. R. McCallum, and the Hon. J. Trevethick, M.L.C.'s, and Messrs. A. S. Richards, W. J. Lyon, F. W. Schramm, W. T. Anderton, and W. P. Endean, M.P.'s, travelled South by the Limited express last night.
Dr. Jefcoate Harbutt, a New Zealander at the Queen Charlotte Maternity Hospital, London, recently passed an examination conferring 011 him membership of the British College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, according to cabled advice received by his father, Mr. S. J. Harbutt, of Epsom. Dr. Harbutt was formerly at Otago University,'antl has been studying in London for two and a half j'ears.
Dr. Malcolm . Sargent, former conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra, left for Wellington last night. The New Zealand Government has extended travelling facilities to him 011 the trains. He will be the guest of their Excellencies the Governor-General and Lady Galway. Dr. Sargent will conduct orchestral and choral work during his stay in New Zealand, before leaving for Sydney in September.
