' The buoyant condition of the country's trade is again exemplified by the figures released to-day by the Customs Department and received by Press Association message from Wellington. These show that for tiie month of June an exceptionally heavy turnover was recorded, •both exports and imports recording the highest levels reached in June for several years. ■ ■ Compared with June in recent years j the returns are as follow: — J uiic. This in its turn is reflected in increased spending power of the community. and imports have risen accordingly. The ■so-called "favourable" trade balance is i again at a high level. , i. Fine Production Year. From the latest figures it is possible to compare the "production year," which olliciallv* closed on June 30, with those of preceding seasons. Returns for the past seven years, in which strictly comparable figures, all expressed in New Zealand currency, are available, are as follows, the values being for commodities only, with exports and imports of. specie excluded: — Year to Excess June 30. For six months of this year exports we're £33,200 and imports £14,040.
