STORM BREWING.

BRITISH POLITICS. Tories Harassing Government For Meat Levy. IMPORTS FROM DOMINIONS. United Press Association. —Copyright. (Received 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, July 22. Tlie Sun-Herald news service says a storm is brewing in the House of Commons as a result of the Government's decision not to place a levy on meat imports from the Dominions. The formidable nature of the agitation is evidenced by a resolution passed by the Conservative Agricul-

tural Committee comprising Conservative members of Parliament.

The resolution requests that in order to reduce the amount of the Treasury subsidy, and as part of a long-term policy, all meat imports from the Dominions should, at the earliest possible moment, be levied on a preferential basis.

Lord Lonsdale has joined the Imperial policy group of the Conservative party. As he was previously not associated with any political body, his action is held to emphasise the anxiety that the Conservatives are feeling about the political situation.
