NEW CHIEF JUSTICE.

WELCOMED AT SUVA,

(From Our Own Correspondent.) SUVA, July 15.. There was a large attendance at the Supreme Court last week when members of the Fiji Bar met to welcome the new Chief Justice, Mr. O. C/K. Conic. M.C. His Honor has had experience in the Malay States, and in East Africa. The Attorney-General, the Hon. R. S. Thacker, in welcoming' the judge, that there wore 25 members practising at the Bar in Fiji, representative of the Bar of England, the Bar of Australia and the Bar of New Zealand. His Honor would find that in the main the community, although very mixed in race, was a peaceful and law-abiding one, [ "for the present at least." Sir Henry I Scott, K.C., offered a welcome from the unofficial side.
