ACTIVE PREPARATIONS.
MORE HELPERS NEEDED,
Extensive preparations are being made by the Commercial Travellers' Association for the charity drive which the association will launch on Saturday morning to collect cash, clothing and books in the city and suburbs. The drive is being made under the auspices of the Auckland Metropolitan Relief Committee and although a large number of cars and numerous helpers are already offering, more arc required, as it is considered that to do the areas thoroughly 300 cars are necessary. The areas to be covered are the city, Parncll, Newmarket, Rernuera, St. Helicr's, Ellerslie, Glendowie, Oneliunga, Epsom, Mount Eden, Mount Albert and Avondale and on the other side of the harbour, Devonport, Takapuna, Birkenhead and Northcote.
The various districts have been divided into 39 areas and each car will be attended by two men and several boy scouts, of whom there will be 1000 engaged. Business firms have placed 40 lorries at the disposal of the association and oji these will be loaded the parcels collected. They will then be taken to Xo. 9 shed at the Central wharf, where later they will be subjected to fumigation by the Health Department.
The drive "will begin on Saturday morning at 8 o'clock and continue until noon, and to facilitate the work of the collectors the public are asked to have their parcels on the doorsteps or verandahs in order that there will be no undue delay.
