QUESTIONS IN HOUSE.
MR. SPEAKER'S ATTITUDE. MR. POLSON AiVD , MR. BROADFOOT. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. If members of Parliament are not careful in tire drafting of questions addressed to Minister? of the Crown they nro likely to come under the ban of Mr. Speaker. For instance, this afternoon Mr. W. J. Poison (National, Stratford) gave" notice to aslv the Prime Minister whether the principle embodied in the ; action of tlie Minister of Labour in , securing the reinstatement of two insubordinate seamen would apply to all ! departments of the Public Service; and 1 what were the arrangements with Mr. ■ 0. F. Nelson which necessitated the, , Minister searching for the seamen in , hotels?
Mr. Speaker suggested that Mr. Poison should redraft his question. The following question was directed to the Prime Minister by Mr. W. J. Broadfoot (National. Waitomo) :—"Seeing that lie has stated, as reported in the newspapers 'That if necessary we must be big enough to admit that wo have made mistakes and correct them wherever they appear,' will the Prime Minister be big enough to give the Opposition the credit for pointing out the mistakes that were being made when the legislation was before the House?" Mr. Speaker: I think you will have to couch your question in different language.
