THE FIRE STATION.

As a ratepayer I have been interested in the discussion which has taken place re the proposed site for a new fire station. I consider the site mentioned in Symonds Street as entirely unsuitable, because it is 011 the tram line, in close proximity to a school, at a busy intersection, and an important tram stop. I would suggest that Grey's Avenue would be an ideal place for the fire station, as it is a very wide street, lias no trams, is comparatively free from traffic, is in tlve centre of the city, and close to the industrial part. If the new fire station were buil~ there, replacing some of the old wooden buddings which are standing, it would improve the tone of the locality and do something toward town planning. „ SINCLAIR.
