JUNIOR MANAGEMENT. THAMES VALLEY MATCH. The Thames Valley Union wrote to last evening's meeting of tlie junior management board of tlie Auckland Rugby Union, suggesting August 8 as a suitable date for its junior representative match against an Auckland team at Paeroa. It was decided to refer the matter to the Auckland Union. Technical Old Boys' intermediate team was granted permission to play a match against the Paeroa junior representatives at Paeroa on August 22. It was decided to play the third grade match between Technical Old Boys and Takapuna at a later date. It was decided to credit the Ponsonby third grade team with a win owing to the Tamaki Club defaulting. I The transfer of F. Munro from the Kaiwarra Club (Wellington) to Technical Old | Boys was approved. He was graded as a junior.
The Suburbs sixth grade team was congratulated on winning the sixth grade championship. The secretary reported that the team had scored 272 points and had only three registered against it. The Suburbs Club was complimented on the improvements it had made in its playing areas. The Eden Club was thanked for its action in putting its training shed at the disposal of the board. POLICE V. PUKEKOHE.
GAME AT BI.EDISLOE PARK. The Auckland police fifteen are now level with the Navy team in the Kolin Cup competition. These two teams will meet shortly in the final. To-morrow at Bledlsloe Park, Pukekolie, the police will play the Pukekolie representatives at 3 p.m. The following is the police team : —Full-back, Rogers; three-quarters, Hotliam, Galloway, Duncan: five-elgths, Stewart, Dane: halfhack, Roddick ; forwards, Downie, Goldfinch, Miller, Milley, Irvine. Paton, Kelk, Pollock. Reserve : Lander.
WAIKATO BEATEN.
WANGA'NUI'S RECOVERY FROM 9—o. WANGANUI. Tuesday. Wanganui defeated Waikato at Rugby to-day by 17 points to 'J. The winners made a wonderful recovery in the second spell after being behind by o—o. Waikato lidded a solid pack of forwards, who packed well in Hie tight. Wanganui was outhooked and beaten in the line-outs, but mastery in the loose gave them a well-deserved victory.
In the second spell weakness showed in the Waikato five-oightlis line, and these enabled Wangamii's loose play to be driven home. Buick, Solomon and Dempsey scored a try each for Wailcalo, none of which was converted. For Wanganui, Burgess scored two trios and Locke tt one. Welsh converted two and Barton potted a goal.
REPRESENTATIVE PRACTICE
The Auckland Rugby representatives to go South on August 20 will meet for training at the Ponsonby shed to-night at 5.15 o'clock. . JUNIOR REPS. FOR TE PUKE. Messrs. E. Matthews, A. Craig and A. L. Simmonds have selected the following junior representative Rugby team to represent Auckland at Te Puke on August 1 :— lOlmcs (Technical), Burgess (Grafton), Byrnes (Ponsonby), Couglilan (Ponsonby), McCarthy (University), Fraser (Gratton), WagstnfT (Grammar), Donaldson (Northcote), Swain (Grammar), Whitley (Grammar), Johnson (Technical), Iverr-Taylor (Ponsonby), Rynn (Technical), Childs (Grafton), Priest (Otahuliu), Reanney (Waitemata), Overton (University), Reber (Waitemata). Any player unable to go is requested to notify the Auckland Rugby Union immediately. Practice will be held at the Grafton training shed, Enfield Street, to-night at 8 o'clock. All players must attend.
LEWER RETIRES
I. Lewer, the big Morrinsvillc forward, who has represented Morrinsvillc Sub-Union and Waikato for the past three seasons and was included in tlie southern team that played in the All Black trial game at Arckland last year, has announced his retirement from football as a result of a recurrence of a knee injury that developed after ho had played for Morrinsville against Matamata on July 11. Lewer was one of those nominated by the Waikato Union last year for further All Black trials and had played well for ■Waikato, his height making him a good line-ou; forward. His younger brother, M. Lewer, who is an inch or two taller, is still Morrinsville, being easily the t?liesr*~u in the team.
