COLLISION WITH POLE.

HAMILTON ACCIDENT. TELEPHONES AFFECTED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Monday. Mystery surrounds a collision with a telephone pole at the corner of Knox and Victoria Streets at an early hour this morning. The pole is leaning at an angle, and about 30 telephone subscribers were disconnected owing to the wires fusing. The Hamilton Fire Brigade answered a call to the spot about 0 a.m., but found no trace of a car except a pile of broken glass near the pole. It is possible that one or more occupants of the vehicle was seriously injured, as a considerable quantity of blood was found nearby on the road. Telephone communication was restored late this morning. The police are investigating the matter.
