RADIO STATIONS.
RAROTONGAN GROUP. LEPER HOSPITAL AT PENRHYN. (By Telegraph.—l'ress Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Advice received from Rarotonga states it is expected that radio stations, in the northern group of islands, namely. Maniliiki (parent station), Penrhvn ami Puknpuka, will be erected during the next few months. Approval of plans and specifications is expected shortly. The Government has approved, of the erection at Penrhyn of a leper concentration hospital, where lepers from the whole of the Cook Group will be segregated and treated until their removal to Makogai can be arranged. The appointments of Captain Viggo Rasmussen as resident agent at Penrhyn and Mr. Lionel H. Trenn as resident agent at Manihiki have been announced. Tho American yacht Director called at Penrhyn during April to collect rare sea birds and sea shells for the New York Museum. A meeting was held in Avarua, Rarotonga, with the objcct of forming a local branch of the New Zealand Labour party, but after several speakers had addressed the meeting it was decided to hold the matter over until after the arrival of the Parliamentary delegation inquiring into the fruit trade.
