WAIHOU MURDER.
POLICE ACTIVITY.
MORE OFFICERS ENGAGED
DEVELOPMENTS SOON ?
Important developments are shortly expected in connection with the police investigation cf the Waihou Valley murder. Over the week-end there was much activity at police headquarters at Kangihau. The already large detachment of detectives and constables has been considerably augmented since Saturday. The police are very reticent and decline to release any information.
Yesterday morning a police car, containing Detective-Sergeant ,T. Walsli, two detectives and two constables left Auckland for Rangihau. Detective-.Sergeant Walsli was one of the early investigators. but after spending some weeks in the Wailiou Valley he had to return to Auckland when his sou met with a serious motor accident. It it* known that several more detectives from other parts of the North Island are being sent North, as well as Inspector .1. Cummings. officer in charge of the Palnierston North police district. This well known ollicer has taken part in the unravelling of many murder cases. lie is expected to arrive at Kangihau at any time.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. D. J. Cummings, returned to Auckland on Saturday evening after spending Friday conferring with the officers and men engaged on the case. He left Auckland for tiie South bv car yesterday.
