RESTORING CUTS.

[ MINISTER EXPLAINS. SCOPE OF FINANCE BILL EARLY AUGUST BUDGET. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nash, referring to the Finance Bill to be introduced in the House of Representatives on Wednesday for the restoration of wages and salaries to the 1931 level, made it clear to-day that employees not affected by 1931 cuts were not included within the scope of the bill. He said provision was made for the restoration of cuts, not for increases. The Minister was asked the probable date when the Budget would be presented, and he replied that it would be either a fortnight or three weeks hence. It was a question whether the Mortgage Bill or the Budget would be brought down first, and he could not say at the moment what the order would be. The title of the Mortgage Bill, he said, was not yet settled. Two or three titles were under consideration.
