DRIVERS' "LOCKOUT."

STATEMENT BY SECRETARY.

In connection with the recent "lockout" of 11 drivers employed by an Auckland firm, the secretary of the Drivers' Union, Mr. O. Lindsay, said this morning that the published statement concerning the position was not entirely correct. "The statement made that the men had been asked by their employers to sign a document that they would not claim the 1931 wage is incorrect," said Mr. Lindsay. "I have interviewed the men, who are all back at work with the firm, and it is clear they were not asked to sign any document of the kind referred to. The men will receive the 19.31 wage when the legislation is passed."
