YESTERDAY'S BUSINESS. SYDNEY, July 2. Commonwealth bonds and good class investment issues met with a strong market on the Sydney Stock Exchange to-day. The turnover was not, heavy. Sales included:—Commercial Bank'of Sydney, £20 11/; Bank of New South Wales, £33 17/6; Howard Smith, 19/4%; Carlton Brewery, £2 19/; Tooth's (new), £2 13/3; Toohey's, £1 11/6; Australian Steel (pref.), £1 6/; Anthony Hordern, 18/10%; Broken Hill Proprietary, £3 15/0, £3 15/3; (ne,w), £2 16/3, £2 16/6; Burns, Philp, £3 15/; British Tobacco, £2 1/; Colonial Sugar, £43; Dunlop, Perdriau, 18/; David Jones, £2 4/6; Electrolytic Zinc, £2 0/3; G. J. Coles, £4 5/6; Henry Jones, £2 1/7%; Hume Pipe, £1 0/7%; Morris, Hedstrom, £1 6/6; Peters, £2 2/0; Broken Hill South, £5 12/; Emperor, 14/2; Loloma, £1 1/1%; Placer (ex div.), £5 7/6. Commonwealth bonds: 4 per cents, 1938, £100 16/3; 1944, £103; 1950, £102 5/; 1957, £100 17/6; 1959, £101 5/; 1961, £101 12/6. MELBOURNE EXCHANGE. On the Melbourne Exchange leading industrials were easier on some profittaking. Mining issues were weaker, with Emperors and Lolomas steadier after the issue of the usual reports.
