WILLIAMSON COMPANY.
LAST NIGHTS OF SEASON. At His Majesty's Theatre to-night lovers of the stage will have the opportunity of seeing a famous play while it is still running to crowded houses in London. The play referred to is Emlyn Williams' powerful drama, "Night Must Fall," which is to be presented by J. C. Williamson's company. The London "Morning Post" said of the play: "It competes with anything we have seen upon the stage exploiting this particular type of play. The grip upon the sensibilities of the audience is as firm and powerful as can possibly be achieved in the theatre. Nor is the play lacking in humour; its repartee is shattering. 'Night Must Fall' is more than a melodrama. Though its thrills are of an extraordinary kind it is not at thrills chiefly that the playwright aims. In the conventional crime play the question the author asks is 'who did it"?' But this is not the way Mr. Williams approaches his theme. For at the verybeginning he not only tells us who committed the crime but even what happened to him after his arrest. In London 'Night Must Fall' caused a controversy that filled columns of the daily newspaper and attracted audiences of the most varied character." The companv to nerform this play is headed by Ethel Morrison and Elaine Hamill and they have with them Lloyd Lainble. making his first appearance in New Zealand. Campbell Copelin. Harvey Adams. Katie Towers. Norman Shepherd. Envl Holl'ns and PhvlUs Bnker.
