RAILWAY TELEPHONES.
INSTALLATION OF EXCHANGE, The work of installing a new automatic telephone exchange at the Auckland railway station is now almost completed. The exchange, which will give a more efficient service, is probably the largest private one in the city. In order to accommodate the large new switchboard, which will be attended by up to four operators, according to the volume of calls being handled, structural alterations have been carried out at the station, and a special room has been provided.
