After consideration by Cabinet, M Lebrun, President, initialled a bill, to nationalise the armament industry, for early submission to the Chamber of Deputies. The measure Avill be progressive, at first including only enterprises that can readily be absorbed into existing arsenals or are capable of being taken over by Government engineers. Government control is aimed at restricting excess profits and will be applied to other armament industries. It is expected that 12 works, including those of Schneider, Hotchkiss, Brandt and Renault, will be wholly nationalised.
