MAIL TRAIN MURDER.
DEATH SENTENCE ON ACCUSED (Received 9.30 a.m.) BRISBANE, this day. Herbert Colbert, alias Kopit, charged with the murder of Mr. Harold Speering in the Bundaberg mail tgain on April 2, was found guilty ana sentenced to life imprisonment. The defence was that accused was insane at the time of the crime. A statement was tendered by Colbert's counsel to the effect that accused's mother, aged 40, had been an inmate of a mental institution in Sydney last year. Her condition was described as organic dementia. During the trial yesterday, the Government medical officer, Dr. Gavin Cameron, said he could find no symptoms that indicated the. presence of insanity in accused.
