NEW STRIKE CRAZE.

Egyptians Employ Stay-in Method. POLICE UPSET SCHEME. (Received 12 noon.) LONDON, June 26. "The Times" Alexandria correspondent gays 1000 workmen began a stay-in strike in a cotton-spinning factory and barricaded themselves in the building. Three hundred police, some wearing slippers and some barefooted, raided the premises after the fire brigade had smashed the doors at 4 a.m. and pounced on the strikers in the darkness, which rendered their missile throwing so inaccurate that only two police were injured. Those arrested numbered 920, and they were taken to barracks in lorries and subsequently imprisoned. Fiftysix are in hospital. The trouble was due te tyros (beginners) demanding the same wages as experienced hands".
