DROUGHT IN U.S.A.
AFFECTS WHEAT CROPS. CHICAGO, June 25. Abnormally high temperatures, with a continued absence of rain in the northwestern grain-producing areas of America, have greatly increased the drought menace. According to officials of the Department of Agriculture the combined spring and winter crop will not exceed 650,000,000 bushels, or just enough to satisfy domestic requirements. The hope recently expressed by the Secretary of Agriculture, Mr. H. A. Wallace, that America soon would re-enter the wheat export trade appears to be doomed to non-fulfilment.
