DEPARTMENTAL CONTRACTS. INTIMATION" TO TENDERERS. (By Telegraph.—Prest' Association.) CHRIS TCHURCH, this day. The Public Works Department lias intimated to tenderers for Departmental contracts that in future it will not allow "tags" to be added to tenders making provision that the tenders are subject to adjustment in the light of amendments to the Industrial, Conciliation and Arbitration Act.
In recent months it has become customary for such a proviso to be added to tenders, and some of those received by the Public Works Department for the erection of the Styx railway overhead bridge were "tagged" in this way. None of the tenders for this Work have been accepted and the contract is to be readvertised with an instruction that 110 "tags" are to be attached to the tenders.
