BIRDS ON SHOW.

FOUR HUNDRED ENTRIES. ONEHUNGA POULTRY CLUB. A record entry of over 400 birds was the feature of the 19th annual show of the Onehunga Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Club, which opened this morning in the Foresters' Theatre, Onehunga. The exhibits included fancy and utility poultry, ducks, pigeons, canaries and other birds, many of them forwarded from distant parts of the North Island. The judges agreed that the quality of n-.ost of the exhibits was of a very high standard, the entry of Silver Wyandottes being particularly outstanding. Tho Rhode Island Ked Club is holding its annual show in conjunction with the Onehunga Club and entries are large. Prizes awarded were:— Special Prizes.—North Island championship, standard Orpingtons, W. J. Brewin; Mason Cup and two special prizes, best fancy poultry, B: Duncan : Hanson Cup, best Silver Wyandotte. W. A. Hanson; best fancy (except game), W. J. Brewin; best Orpington (hen or pullet), E. J. Pofswillo (Gisborne) : best Black Orpington (male), W. J. Brewin ; best game bantam, E. J. R. McLaren : Jordan Cup and special prize, best yotlng game bird, A. ElkingtOn ; North Island championship, budgerigar (white), Mrs. S. Chambers; North Inland Championship, working homer .pigeon, D. Wilson (male), E. ,T. Hanson (female); North Island championship, Yorkshire canary, clear or ticked yellow, J. H. Tocker. Canaries and Cage Birdw.—Clear yellow cock,'J. H. ToiVer; clear buff cock or hen, J. H. Tocker; Yorkshire novice. H. J. Gregg: best stuped bird, R. Compston : best goldfinch or green finch. F. W. Edwards. •pigeons.—All classes of fancy pigeons were won by Mr. B. Duncan for the tenth year in succession ; best 500-mile class, D. Wilson.
