INADEQUATE LIGHTING.
ONE TREE HILL DISTRICT. The inadequacy of the present street lighting system was discussed by the One Tree Hill Borough Council last evening, following a suggestion by the Works committee that the council should into the question of the possibility improving tho present standard by substituting modern fittings of a higher Wattage for the existing somewhat inadequate lamps. "I have thought all along that if local bodies could get something done in the direction indicated it r.'ould be a job ~ worth while," said the Mayor, Mr. I. J. Goldstine. "I am very glad the works supervision committee has brought the matter up again." He expressed the Opinion that the Power Board should be asked to submit different schemes. Mr. L. Mandeno said he thought the question should be taken up by the Local Bodies' Association to see if some reduction in charges could not be obtained. Mr. Goldstine said that question could j>e gone into by the sub-committee and included in a report. Messrs. L. Mandeno, C. R. Slyfield an d A. Pearce. were appointed a subcommittee to go. into the matter of street lighting and draw up a comprehensive report dealing with schemes and Posts,
