WINTER FAIR.

ST. MARY'S HOMES' BENEFIT. There was a spectacular display in the Town Hall concert chamber yesterday when a winter fair was held to raise funds for the maintenance of St. Mary's Home at Otuhuhu. The stalls arranged about the hall were gaily decorated with holly, the leaves of which bud been frosted to give a realistic appearance of snow, and a widely varied display of goods were on sale.

The fair was opened by Archdeacon G. Mac-Murray, who was introduced by the Rev. P. S. Smallficld, chairman of the St. Mary's committee of management.

Archdeacon Mac Murray gave a brief outline of the splendid work done by the management of the homes since their inception over 50 years ago, and congratulated the workers on their efforts. The great majority of the girls who passed through the home, he said, left with a new outlook on life, but the work could not be carried on without funds, and he concluded with a plea for the funds for the support of the homes, which, bo said, were open to all denominations.

Houghton, Miss Grant and Miss Liiulesay; cakes (St. Aidan's, All Saints'. Query Club and Girls' Diocesan Association), Mis. W. Averill, Mrs. Wetherilt, Mrs. Hawkes, Miss Brown and helpers; work (Holy Sepulchre, St. Barnabas' and Devonport), Mrs. Hay, Mrs. Draper, Mrs. Robinson, Mrs. Patterson, Mrs. Serle, Miss Hay and Miss White; (id to ">/ stall (St. Andrew's, Epsom), Mrs. Lowrie and Miss Harrison; kitchen stall, Mrs. G. Mac Murray, Mrs. Wigg, Mrs. Straw and Mrs. J. Jones; (lowers. Mrs. J. E. Barton, Mrs A. Abbott. Miss B. Fenton and Miss B. E. Nolan; sweets (Royal Oak), Mrs.

Farquliar, Miss Farquliar, Hiss A. L Watson and .Miss Ilbert; luncheon and tearooms (Mount Albert, Ellerslie, Otalmliu, St. Thomas', Birkenhead), Mrs. Weaver. Mrs. L. Cartlidge, Mrs. Beck, Mrs. Mitchell, Mrs. Palmer, Mrs. Norton, assisted by members of the Diocesan High School Old Girls' League.

An excellent musical programme was presented, to which the following contributed: —Mrs. Anne Lane, Miss Gwen Brennand, Miss Amy - Hansard, and pupils of Miss Mabel Johnson's school of dancing.
