WILLIAMSON COMPANY.
"FRESH FIELDS" SUCCESS. This evening and on Thursday and Friday night J. C. Williamson's new comedy company will present Ivor Xovello's amusing and entertaining comedy, "Fresh Fields." Ethel Morrison, in the role of Lady Mary, is at her best, and Elaine Hamill, the youn<j New Zealand actress, has more than justified the excellent reports which preceded her. Others who help to make "Fresh Fields" so successful are Harvey Adams, Katie Towers, Phyllis Baker, Arthur Lane, Norman Shepherd, Enid Hollins and Connie Martyn. Oil Saturday afternoon and evening, and the three following nights, the company will appear in the initial local production of Keith Winter's domestic tragedy "The Shining Hour," in which Mr. Lloyd Lamble will make his first appearance in Auckland, and Mr. Campbell Copeiin, the talented London actor, will reappear to Auckland audiences. The story of "The Shining Hour" takes place in a Yorkshire farmhouse, comfortably inhabited by the Linden family of two brothers, a sister and a wife. Into this placid company a third brother brings a young wife —a beautiful stranger from the unknown outside world. The appearance of this woman excites hidden stores of emotion in her simple hosts—love, desire and hatred. Their lives, hitherto so seemly, become tempestuous, and resulting events rise to greater emotional heights. On Thursday, June 25, and the four following nights, "As Husbands Go," will be staged, and on Thursday, July 1, and the following three nights "Night Must Fall." The box plans are at Lewis Eady, Ltd.
