FAIR RENTS BILL.
As a regular reader of your paper, I should like the attention of the Prime Minister and Cabinet to be drawn to the fact that apparently no cover is allowed to ex-sokliers who, through no fault of their own, have been compelled to leave their industrial occupations as unfit to keep pace with other physically fit workers and set up in little businesses that they may yet be able to earn their own livelihood. Many of these men run a little shop with dwelling attached, which, if I understand the Act correctly, excludes them from the provisions of the Fair Rents Act, which should be further amended. Certain landlords are now availing themselves of eviction proceedings, even against tenants who have paid their rent regularly, with a view to accepting higher rents. EX-IMPERIAL MOXS VETERAN*.
