PHILISTINES' CLUB.
FORTNIGHTLY REVEL. The Amateur Operatic Society's Hall presented a gay scene on Saturday evening, when the Philistines' Club held its fortnightly revel. Mrs. H. T. King was in the chair, and extended a welcome to the large gathering of guests. A bright and varied programme was presented, including violin solos by Miss Isobel Langlands, songs by Miss Mavis Beadle and Mr. W. Harris, flute solos by Mr. Hal McLennan, and humorous items by Mr. Charles Prime. Also included in the programme were two sketches, "Wanted —a Companion," presented by Miss Kathleen Teape and Miss G wynne Peacocke, and "Love in a Railway Carriage," presented by Miss Mary Pilkington and Mr. Dick Sharps. Accompaniments were played by Mrs. Charles Prime and Mr. Erie Maxwell. Among those present were; Mesdames W. J. fiallen, F. J. Newbery, George Worthy, Nello Porter, B. D'Estc, L. Barker, Peryer, 11.
