CHUMMY'S WORKING BEE.
In the following letter Elva Jenkins, a member of the Chummy Club, gives an account of her club's visit to the "Star" Office on a recent Saturday morning. Punctually at 9.30 on Saturday morning the liftman of the "Star" OHice was asking three Chummy Club members, who were armed with a parcel of useful clothing, "Where to?" "Second floor, please," wo replied, rather proudly it must bo admitted, as we were the first to attend one of Wendy's Slewing bees. After having wriggled our way between piles of paper which would, perhaps, hold at some future date the news of tlio day, we arrived at a sunny room in which we could already "see a few patches. The patches, which would no doubt have preferred to lie in the sun, tsoon found that wo had other work to do with them. Soon they were sorted in three piles, red here, pink over there, and crocheted., elsewhere. Then we quickly produced needles and started sewing. A much dilapidated quilt was soon repaired, and another of red patches sewn around a square of grey was soon placed beside it. Not far off a cot quilt of palo pink and blue was forming into shape. Fourteen busy hands were working for tho Sunshine campaign, but time would not stay, and very soon we stopped to sort out our work. We were [pleased to find one quilt completed and two more on tho way, as well as several piles of patches sorted in colours. Wo left tho office determined to work harder than ever and we are looking forward to shedding more rays of sunshine. Tlio Chummy Club (E.J'., Lieut.)
