PRICKED FINGER.
Noted Lung Surgeon Fighting For Own Life. NEW ZEALANDER'S ILLNESS. (Received 9.30 a.m.) LONDON, June 9. The "Daily Mail" states that Mr. Senry Pliilbriek Nelson, now of Harley Street, a New Zealander, one of the leading experts in lung surgery, whose skill has saved hundreds of lives, is fighting desperately for his own life. His career was ended as the result of his pricking a finger on his left hand while performing a difficult operation in St. Bartholomew's Hospital, of which he is an honorary surgeon. Mr. Nelson's arm has been amputated. His wife is living in the hospital and refuses to leave his bedside. The finger quickly became swollen and showed evidence of septicaemia. The only hope of preventing the poison spreading was to remove the arm. Mr. Nelson is still gravely ill. He was previously instructor in surgery at Michigan University Hospital.
