STATEMENT PROMISED.
FORMER CABINET MINISTER. * (Received 9.30 a.m.) LONDON. June 9. The former Colonial Secretary, Mr. J. H. Thomas, announces tliat he will make a personal statement in the House of Commons on Thursday in the course of the debate on the findings of the Budget tribunal. Announcing that the debate on the leport of the Budget tribunal inquiry would be taken on Thursday, Sir John Simon, Home Secretary, stated that the question of criminal proceedings rested with the Attorney-General, and Cabinet had no intention of influencing the decision. Sir John agreed with questioners that the Attorney-General's decision should he ascertained before the debate. It is expected that a question will be put to the House to-morrow that Thursday's debate be abandoned if it is decided to take proceedings.
