"THE MARECHALE."

A WOMAN EVANGELIST. "The Marechale," a woman preacher, who is thc eldest daughter of the late General William Booth, the founder of the Salvation Army, and is sister to the present General Evangeline Booth, arrived in Auckland by the Aorangi yesterday on her way to Australia. For 2o years "The Marechale" (a title of honour given by the French people) preached in France, Switzerland, Belgium and Holland. She faced the mobs of Paris and Geneva with the Gospel as her sole weapon. Braving the fiercest persecution in Switzerland she was twice arrested and imprisoned in that country. After retiring several years ago from thc Salvation Army "The Marechale" determined to devote herself to the work of Interdenominational Church Evangelism, and is now afliliatod with the Mildmay Movement of England.
