INTOXICATED IN CAR.

MfliN FINED AT OTAHUHU. In tlie Police Court at Otahuhu yesterday, before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., Reginald James Lidgard was charged with being intoxicated in charge of a car. Defendant, who was represented by Mr. Winter, pleaded not guitty. Sergeant Cahill stated that on Saturday night, about 5.30, Lidgard was noticed coming from Papakura driving very erratically, and he had several narrow escapcs from accident. A passing motorist reported the matter to the police at Manurewa, and accused was followed and arrested at Papatoetoe. He was brought into Otahuhu, where Dr. Lange certified that he was not in a lit state to drive a car, and ho was detained.

After hearing the evidence for the prosecutioii Lidgard pleaded guilty. He was convicted and fined £15, plus costs £2 4/0, in default three months' imprisonment. His license was cancelled, and ho was prohibited from obtaining another one for two years.
