FRUIT AND FISH.

Governmental action is required in connection with the sale of fruit and fish, which, if one can get them fresh, are the most wholesome foods for human consumption. The prices should be greatly reduced, and it is imperative that these commodities should bs absolutely fresh. For a long time the price of oranges has.been 1/ for five. Why are oranges kept in the refrigerator and dribbled out on to the market at five a shilling? This practice should be stopped at once. All abundance of good, fresh fish should be placed 011 the New Zealand market daily at prices within the reach of all, and until this is done none should be allowed to be exported. If they can bring fish alive to the market in Denmark, why cannot this be done here ? F.E.
