NEW NUMBER PLATES.

The new black and yellow number plates for use from June 1 have been seen already affixed on several motor cars in Auckland. Motorists who affix the new plates before the end of the month are running a double risk. They may be prosecuted .for breach of the regulations, which provide that the plates ■ shall not be used until June 1, one of the reasons being that otherwise purchasers of cars during May might be able to evade the payment of the registration fee due for that month. Tlie second risk is that, if they are changing their insurance company, their existing third-party cover does not apply to the new number plate, and the vehicle is therefore left uncovered.
