MANAGERS' REPORTS.

Talisman Dubbo (for period ending May 2). —Talisman No. 2 level: Tlie drive south advanced 26ft, total 677 ft. -The drive is following the lode formation, which contains veins of quartz totalling Cin in width at present of low values. Dubbo level: The rise at 440 ft north was put up 26ft, total 82ft above the level. The rise follows the lode formation, which consists of clay and quartz rubble of low value. Sloping : The following results were obtained this period :—From 240 ft north to 355 ft north, average width 27in, value very good; from 380 ft north to 39ott north, average width 14in, value very S°od , from 045 ft north to 070 ft north, average width 14in, value very good. The exceptionally wet weather experienced this P er greatly interfered with stope workings, tl\e water soaking through from the surface causing the walls of the lode to cave and fail in many places. It has been necessary to procure extra filling in order to keep the slopes closely packed, and also to usei a great many props and stulls to keep the ground from caving. The quartz passes, whlefi are now 150 ft above the Dubbo level, also have required a good deal of attention. The logging of the passes has now worn very thin, and in many places replacements and repairs have been necessary. A crosscut at 415 ft north was uriven from the stopes 15ft into the western wall for the purpose of procuring filling, and also to explore the country for other quartz veins which may exist. Country rock only was disclosed. Electrolytic Zinc. —Production for the four weeks ended April 20, compares as follows with the four weeks ended April 1- Zinc, 5430 (5440) tons, of which used at works 80 (80) tons); silver-lead product, lead 185 (140) tons; «ilver t 18,.j00 (18,000) ounces. The West Coast mines iiirures for the same period are: 3700 (2941) tons; lead, 729 (784) tons. Glenroy (Murchison). —Last week, 20oz sdwt for 4(1 hours. Miitaki. —Under date the 12th instant, the drellgeinaster reports as follows lor the week ended 10th instartt, the dredge worked 127 hours on a total face of 430 ft, pulling ahead in the bank 34ft in an average depth of 18ft, and in the river 17ft with an average depth of loft. We treated 7234, yards for a return of 290z 7dwt 16 grains of retorted gold. During the week there was a heavy flood in the river, bringing down considerable drift. The new bottom tumbler was fitted on Sunday, and everything is now running well.

TIN COMPANY'S VENTURE.

£003,000 FLOTATION. It is understood tlint the prospectus for the new flotation of the Austral Malay Tin Co., Ltd., for its New Zealand mining interests will be issued at the end of June or early in July. The capitul of the new company will be £005,000, and l'c is stated that the following will be on the board of directors of the new company: Messrs. Frank Leverrler, Sydney; \V. A. Freeman, solicitor, Sydney, chairman of directors of Placer Developments Ltd., and of Bulolo Gold Dredging; K. J. I). Itlchardson, Sydney; E. K. G. Boyd, Talping; Frederick G. Dunn, Christchurch. The company has acquired a large dredging urea in the Clutha Hiver and designs are now being prepared for an eighteen cubic feet bucket dredge to work the area. At the present time the company has six keystone drills prospecting In various parts of New Zealand.

YIELDS OF COMPANIES.

Talisman Dtibbo (Karangahake).—4s 1-3 tons of ore were treated at the Golden Dawn battery for an approximate realisation of £370. King Solomon (Gore). —This week, 350z 2dwt. Worksop.—29oz, 156 hours, 11,200 yards. Maori Gully.—Dredge return 58oz 12dwt for 120 hours' working.

MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS,

Dawn of Hope (Thames). —The stope between Nos. 1 and 2 winzes continues to produce high-grade ore and a little specimen stone. The ore from the specimen lead is now showing more gold and is in a splendid class of andeslte. Mount Lyell (Tasmania), fortnight ended April 21).—X, Mount Lyell: Tons extracted 5572, llOOft level. So. 38 stope rise to 7ft through mineralised schist. Koyal Tharsis ; Tons extracted, 235 a. W. Lyell : Tons extracted, 0282. . Lyell Comstock : Tons extracted, 4322. No. 4 level, No. 2 mullock pass drive, E. end to 101 ft, through mineralised schist, W. end to 114 ft, through tilling and timber. No. 8 level, plat completed, main crosscut to 7ft through mineralised schist. Reduction works; G4BO tons relincry anodes made in year. Concentrator treated 21,782 tons ore, producing 1091 tons concentrates. Copper Retinery : 500 tons calthode copper produced; total for year, 7401, tons.
